How to take care of your PMU post procedure:
· Dab fluids from tattoo off every 30 mins to 1 hour so that they do not form scabs. Use a clean cotton round with a little bit of water. You may ice the skin if it is sore, but wrap the ice pack in a clean towel or napkin. If you need to take any pain medications, please consult your doctor.
· ALWAYS USE CLEAN HANDS WHEN TOUCHING YOUR TATTOO SO AS TO NOT CAUSE INFECTION.
· Don’t allow direct water contact, a little is fine. The tattoo should not get soggy, because scabs will come off prematurely.
· Moisturize with ointment/lotion recommended. Moisturize 2-3 times daily with thin layers; for lips: moisturizing when they feel dry is recommended.
· DON’T SLEEP ON YOUR FACE and please use a clean pillowcase each night.
· No picking, scratching, biting off scabs. They should come off at their own accord.
· Only use unscented, dye free soaps/ointments/lotions on your tattoo. NO MAKEUP OR HARSH CHEMICALS on your tattoo.
· Don’t expose your new tattoo to sunlight or other forms of UV while it is healing. You WILL lose pigment.
· No heavy sweating or exercise for 2 weeks after treatment.
· No facials, BOTOX, chemical treatments, microdermabrasion, acids, chemical exfoliants, etc. for 4 weeks after treatment.
· Once scabbing is gone, you may use makeup again. Your tattoo will look very light, as it is still healing underneath the skin and has not yet resurfaced. After week 6, your tattoo will be fully healed and show the final results.
· After your tattoo is fully healed, it is strongly recommended that you DO NOT use any of the following on you tattoo: Benzoyl Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Glycolic Acid, Apple Cider Vinegar, Vitamin E or C, and Retinol. These products will cause your tattoo to fade faster.
· Wear sunscreen on your tattoo when you are outside or in a tanning bed to prevent it from fading faster.
· Salt water and chlorine will fade your tattoo faster, even when healed. Rinse with water after contact.
· If you are having laser or other facial beauty treatments, PLEASE inform your technician of your permanent cosmetics.
· TOUCH UPS ARE NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN YOUR PERMANENT MAKEUP. Everyone’s immune system processes the pigment differently, but in general, most require an annual touch up to maintain the color of their PMU.
· COVER-UPS REQUIRE MULTIPLE SESSIONS. If you have oily skin, an iron deficiency, or a very strong immune system, your pigment will not last as long and will not heal as crisp as others. It is possible that the “cover-up” tattoo may not completely cover the old one. “Cover-ups” are essentially color corrections, which is why multiple sessions are vital. Not all PMU is able to be corrected, and some require either Saline or Laser removal prior to being corrected by Nickole.
